We have a beautiful, newly renovated lodge which sits in the picturesque Devon countryside. To get to the lodge you have to drive through Powderham's ancient woodland up to the top where it then opens out in to an amazing view of rolling countryside, the River Exe and the sea beyond. It is secluded and peaceful yet only a few miles from Exeter city centre. The lodge has an acre of garden which includes a small orchard. Also, there is a private hot tub and patio area to relax and watch the wildlife go by. In the lodge there is a comfortable lounge with a tv. This leads in to the well equipped kitchen which includes; oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and more. Next to the kitchen is the large dining area which has a cosy wood burner for those chilly nights. There is one bathroom with a sink, toilet, bath and shower and another toilet in the utility room. Here there is a also a washing machine. The master bedroom consists of a very large super king four poster bed. There is a tv, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. The second bedroom sleeps five guests. There are two double beds and one single bed (triple sleeper). There is also a wardrobe, bedside tables and chest of drawers.
When the lodge was renovated an underfloor heating system was added which is connected to a biomass boiler, there are also solar panels and all of the water comes from our very own bore hole. Except for the electricity the lodge is almost self sufficient. There is plenty of private parking outside the lodge and space to park bikes, etc.

We are a family of four, myself and husband Graham with our two children Evie (12) and Bailey (14). We love living in Devon as there are so many outdoor activities as well as lots to do in Exeter. We have been very busy renovating the lodge and building our own house that we have not been able to go on holiday. Now the lodge is finished and our house is nearing completion we would love to go on holiday with the children. We love seeing new places and spending time together as a family.
We have never done a home exchange before but our friends have recommended it.
The lodge was an old gatehouse to a large manor house called Oxton House. There were three gate houses to the house; Spring Lodge, Pier Lodge and Exeter Lodge. The driveway no longer exists down to the manor house so Exeter Lodge sits on its own. Nest door to the lodge is our new build house which was recently on 'Building the Dream' with Charlie Luxton. As the lodge is set within the peaceful countryside you get to see a lot of nature, including deer, pheasants, stouts, badgers, buzzards, rabbits and more.
Once you step outside the lodge gates you are welcomed by a beautiful old woodland which has some lovely walks. You can even walk up to Haldon (which is another woodland area). The local village of Kenn has a friendly pub called the Ley Arms. They provide food and free WIFI! If you want to walk there it takes about 45 minutes. The village is very quaint and has a few traditional Devonshire thatched houses. There is also a magnificent church next to the pub. In the next village of Kennford there is another pub called the Seven Stars, they also provide food and free WIFI. there is also a local shop where you can buy the basics. The lodge is ideally situated to the River Exe, Dawlish, Dawlish Warren, Exmouth, Dartmoor, Exeter City and so much more. It is located a few miles off the M5 which leads you to a range of areas around Devon.
