Our home

We have a comfortable semi detached home which we have just completed renovations on. It is set on a fenced corner plot with pleasant garden which adds extra summer living space. We feel our home has a lovely relaxed atmosphere which means is is a joy to come home to. There is a driveway which has space for two cars. It is not a classic coronation street location, but has a childrens playground across the road and the local bowling club. This means we have an interesting outlook and feel very much part of the village we live in.

Who we are

  1. Tony and I (Shirley) are in our early 50's and looking at early retirement. I am a New Zealander who has lived in the UK for 5 years, Tony has lived in this area all his life so the plan is to head to NZ for a family wedding in Feb and then for me to take Tony on a tour to show him the beauty of NZ. Our combined family are all adults with Tony's sons living in Edwinstowe and my son, 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren all in Rotorua. This is our first attempt at an exchange but having heard so much positive we look forward to the experience.

Edwinstowe is a delightful historical village. It is a place of legends with it being the centre of Sherwood Forest. The Major Oak, Robins legendary hideout is a comfortable mile walk away. We are surrounded by lovely countryside with many public footpaths and bridleways heading in all directions. This allows walks, or cycle rides into forest and farm land. Extending further out there are golf courses, two large estates with lovely lakes and more paths for walking, picnics and cycling. As we are very centrally located in the midlands, we have several much larger towns and cities available for theatres and shopping, including Nottingham and Lincoln. To the east of us (app. an hours drive) are the lovely hills and valleys of the Peak District with its beautiful villages and hidden valleys. For anyone who wishes to explore England or travel into Europe, our home is an ideal base for both. Two airports are 20 miles away, major train routes to London or Scotland 20 miles or less, and the delightful county of Yorkshire is on our doorstep.
