Who we are

  1. We are a professional couple with one daughter. Diarmid is a teacher and Fiona is a medical anthropologist. We have a daughter, Ruth, who is now in her second year at University studying fashion design.
We love cycling and enjoy touring around the lovely quiet roads of East Lothian most weekends with friends. If you too enjoy cycling we can lend you our bikes and map out some good routes for you. If city life is your thing, then Ruth can give lot's of recommendations!
House exchange is a great way to get to know another area with the benefit of local knowledge. We have done exchanges twice now and really enjoyed the experience. It's great to see a new area with the benefit of advice about the best places to go and things to do - all in the comfort of a home away from home. We will love and care for your home the same as our own!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in central Edinburgh in the Bruntsfield area, which has everything that you might need within walking distance. There are excellent restaurants close by covering a wide range of international cuisines. It takes around 10-15 minutes to walk to Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and other great attractions such as the National Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland!
In the evening you have a choice of traditional pubs (there is a great old pub just 2 minutes walk from the flat) or the whole range of entertainments that you would expect to find in a capital city. There are two art house cinemas just round the corner and also two large mainstream cinemas within 10 minutes walk.
Added to this, Edinburgh is a perfect base for exploring the rest of Scotland with excellent train and bus links to the highlands. We live so centrally that a car is not recommended - if you don't want to walk there are lot's of regular buses that pass close to the flat.
