Our home

Our house has one main bedroom downstairs and two further bedrooms upstairs. There are two public rooms downstairs plus a study with cable internet and a wireless system throughout the house. This room can be used as an extra bedroom using the pull-down sofa-bed. We have polished floorboards throughout most of the house. There is a step down to the main living room at the back of the house, and from there, French windows to the back garden.

Who we are

  1. We are Fiona and David, and have lived in our current home with our two children for 13 years. We are both professionally qualified (veterinary surgeon and lawyer) with some family locally in Scotland and some abroad - I have a brother who lives in Canada, which gives us a huge incentive to travel. We would very much like to arrange a house swap to see my brother in July this year, and hope that a couple or family from the Vancouver area might like to visit our beautiful city and countryside in return.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a quiet cul-de-sac with no through traffic. There are 11 houses on one side overlooking a small tree-lined park on the other side. We are only 5-10 minutes by bus or 30 minutes walk to Princes Street, the main shopping street of Edinburgh. This is overlooked by Edinburgh Castle, at the top of the Royal Mile; Holyrood Palace is at the other end. Scotland's Gallery of Modern Art and its sister Dean Gallery are within 10 minutes walk, close by the in-city picturesque Water of Leith walkway. The local "city village" of Stockbridge is within 15 minutes walk with the Royal Botanical Gardens a further 10 minutes in the same direction. An hour's drive takes you to Glasgow, Stirling or Perth.
