Our home

Cottage style apartment located in lovely area of Edinburgh.

A one-bedroom apartment set in the picturesque area of Stockbridge, only 10 minute’s walk from the city centre. The apartment forms part of the “Stockbridge colonies” – a historic and beautiful group of stone terraced houses built in the late 19th century.

Apartment details:

A cozy one-bedroom main door apartment which has recently been refurbished to a high standard. A large bedroom with double bed leads off the hallway, with a smart, modernized bathroom at the end of hallway with whirlpool bath and shower facilities. Beyond that, there is a homely living room which includes a comfy 2 seater sofa, single seat, a small dining table and TV/satellite/DVD options. Finally there is a kitchen which has also been upgraded and designed to replicate a cottage style look. The apartment also includes a small private front garden. It is an ideal retreat for a couple or solo traveler who want to experience all that Edinburgh has to offer whilst offering a quiet spot to relax after a busy day! It should be noted that the sofa can be made into a sofa bed if there was a party of 3, albeit it would severely restrict space given the relatively small size of the apartment (c55m2 floor space in apartment in total).

Many parts of Edinburgh exist with their own unique character and atmosphere, with lots of things to see and do in a self-contained area of the town. Stockbridge is often considered to be the best area within central Edinburgh, with the feeling of a village given its many independent shops, cafés and restaurants and its bustling community atmosphere. It is also located near the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens. The Water of Leith walkway also passes through Stockbridge, following the river from Balerno to Leith and providing a haven of clam through the middle of the city.

Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is one of Europe's most beautiful cities, draped across a series of rocky hills overlooking the sea. It's a town intimately entwined with its landscape, with buildings and monuments perched atop crags and overshadowed by cliffs. From the Old Town's picturesque jumble of medieval tenements piled high along the Royal Mile, its turreted skyline strung between the black, bull-nosed Castle Rock and the russet palisade of Salisbury Crags, to the New Town's neat grid of neoclassical respectability, all columns and capitals, porticoes and pediments, the city offers a constantly changing perspective. And it's all small enough to explore easily on foot.

Edinburgh also provides a perfect base from which to discover the rest of Scotland. Just down the coast (East Lothian) from Edinburgh leads to a stretch of lovely beaches and fantastic golf courses. Glasgow is only 45 miles away, whilst a visit to the highlands would be highly recommended to see some of the most rugged and stunning terrain in the world.

Hiring a car is very easy with the usual rental companies in town (I also have a Ford Focus car which could be used if required). The train network is good throughout the country and there are also various day/multi-day tours that leave from Edinburgh. Edinburgh itself is easily explorable by foot. The bus network is very good and I have my own bike which any visitor is welcome to use (I may be able to get a second bike, if required).
