We offer a four bedroom double upper family apartment, comprising the top two floors of a three floor, semi-detached Victorian house. The property dates back to 1890 and enjoys many period features, adding character and charm. We have renovated the interior to a high standard, making it both contemporary and comfortable. We have a large, bay-windowed, lounge with working fireplace, a cosy family room/playroom (stocked with ample toys and TV/DVD), sunny kitchen with all mod cons and glass-roofed dining area. There are four bedrooms, with beds to sleep seven. The master bedroom has an en-suite with free-standing bath and shower cubicle. There is a family bath/shower room downstairs. There is additional sleeping for two on a sofa-bed in the lounge, along with two travel cots if needed. There is off-street parking and the large leafy garden has toys and a 10' trampoline. The house has wireless internet.
We are a family of four. My wife and I are both secondary school teachers and we have two pre-school children. We love Edinburgh but we love traveling and are keen to make the most of our school breaks.
This 4 bedroom Victorian period house with garden and off street parking is just 20 minutes walk from the center of Edinburgh. The house is situated in the up market morning side area with all local amenities (high street, library, coffee shops, cinema, children's play park, bars, restaurants etc.) a few minutes away. Blackford pond, Blackford Hill and The Hermitage of Braid provide excellent walking and nature trails for both adults and children. Morningside is quiet and leafy and yet just 2.5 kilometers from the historic old town of Edinburgh, which dates back to medieval times and is a perfect location for sightseeing. Edinburgh boasts major attractions such as the castle, the palace of Holyrood house and the Georgian 'new town' - a world heritage sight. Every August and December Edinburgh hosts major festivals. The summer being the biggest arts festival in the world which along with the 'mid-winter festival' attracts many of the world's most renowned performers. Each culminate with fantastic fireworks displays over Edinburgh Castle. The latter celebrates 'Edinburgh's Hogmannay' on December 31st and is a traditional welcoming of the new year with thousands of people gathering for a street party along Prince's St to celebrate 'the bells' together.
Along the East Lothian coast are many famous golf courses including the British Open venue at Muirfield (host to the 2013 British Open Golf Championship) and it's qualifying courses at North Berwick and Dunbar. An hour's drive north is St Andrew's, the home of golf. Further afield are the Scottish highlands and islands home to spectacular scenery, history and of course, malt whisky distilleries! The city bypass is 10 minutes drive, with all the major routes from and to the rest of Scotland into the capital. Edinburgh International Airport, served by most of the major carriers, is a 20 minute drive away.
