Our home was designed by a multi award winning architect in 2014. We live only a couple of miles outside Belfast but are situated in the beautiful Northern Irish countryside on 1.2 acres of land. We can see Scrabo Tower, a local landmark and Strangford Lough in the distance. We live here with our two sons (aged 12 and 8) and two outside cats.
There is plenty of space for games and playing outside, we have a large trampoline with protective netting. In the garage we have three adult bikes and two child bikes as well as a selection of outside toys.
Our open plan home was designed with all modern specs including a designer kitchen, utility room, lots of natural lighting and detail to design. The rooms all flow into one another but we have large floor to ceiling sliding doors so each space can be cosy and contained. Upstairs we have two double bedrooms, a further bedroom with bunk beds, a study and a family bathroom. Downstairs our den has a double sofa bed so there is plenty of space and sleeping options. Two rooms have en suites and we have a separate family bathroom. Our home was designed to make the most of the sun, double doors lead on to a patio with stove, BBQ and outside seating. and then into our garden.
Downstairs we have underfloor heating and also two stoves to let you cosy up after a day sightseeing and exploring!
We have lots of toys, board games, a PS4, DVDs and books. If you love your music we have a mix of vinyl's, a piano and guitar. We have two TVs and DVD players with good internet connection/wifi/ etc.
We have a Passat estate car and a Seat saloon, the Passat has a bike carrier and we are happy to chat about a car exchange.
We aren’t house proud but take care of our home and our children are respectful of their home, we promise to respect and do the same with your home.
We are located close to bus transport networks and train stations are a short drive away; our beautiful home is an amazing base to explore Ireland.
Jason and I are both in our early 40s and have been married for 18 years. We have two fantastic boys, Jakob (12) and Jonah (8), we also have two outside cats called Bobby and Willow..
Jason is a civil servant and Kate is a town planner.
We love the outdoors, music, design, films and food and our home reflects our interests.
The location of our contemporary home offers the best of both worlds for your stay. We are about a 15 minute drive from Belfast City Airport and about 20 minutes from the port of Belfast. Belfast international airport is about 30 minutes away too. Our home is located on a large plot in the countryside and we have visiting badgers and hares, we adjoin Streamvale Open Farm and enjoy seeing the cows in the fields; we love to relax in our home at the end of a busy activity filled day.
However, as we live on the outskirts of Belfast we are close to all city amenities. A large icebowl complex, bowling alley, restaurants, mini golf and a multi screen cinema is located less than two miles away.
Belfast was named the best place to visit in 2018 and visitors enjoy a warm welcome. The city offers great theatres, museums, art galleries and hospitality including a number of Michelin Star restaurants (Ox, Deans, The Muddlers Club - with Nobel located in Holywood) . The Titanic Museum within close proximity to Harland and Wolf (ship builders of the Titanic) is a great visit and the Cathedral and Linen Quarters offer a more modern view of Belfast with great pubs, shops and restaurants. A short drive takes to you Bangor marina and Carrickfergus Castle, National Trust properties, the Lagan Tow path and forest parks.
Our home offers a fantastic base to travel throughout Northern Ireland. The beaches in the North Coast are just over an hour away and for Game of Thrones and movie fans there are lots of set locations to spot there! While visiting the north coast you can explore the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Dunluce Castle, Bushmills whiskey distillery, or play a round of golf at the Royal Portrush Golf Club host of the 2019 Open. Other fantastic day trips include the Marble Arch Caves in Fermanagh, the Antrim Coastline, the Mourne Mountains and a visit to Downpatrick - the birthplace of St Patrick. If you want to travel further afield, Dublin is less than two hours away.
We have lived in Belfast for over twenty years and with two children we are able to advise you on fun day trips, be they trips to forest parks, the beach, sport related, educational or cultural.
We know you will have a fantastic holiday here and we look forward to exchanging homes.
