Our home

Tucked away in a quiet Wiltshire village is our 15th Century Grade II listed thatched cottage. The house is a three-story timber framed property full of character with exposed beams everywhere – a few of which are quite low! There are two master bedrooms, two double bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an interconnecting room which we use as an occasional bedroom for children. The ground floor rooms are all large and consist of a sitting room, dining room (seats 10) , study (with PS2, fast interent access, scanner etc) , toilet, and a large kitchen with a breakfast room. There is a utility room (with dishwasher, extra freezer, drinks fridge, etc) and a pantry. Outside, the gardens (mainly at the back) extend to about ½ acre, with a detached barn holding a 10m indoor swimming pool, steam room, multi-gym, excercise bike, running machine, shower and changing room. Outside the barn is a very sheltered lawn which we use as a badminton court. There is a large patio with iron garden furniture. Although the house is about 500 years old it does have modern central heating and a lovely log burner to snuggle up in front of!
There is a large driveway for plenty of cars and a double garage containing all the barbecues and bikes etc. There are several local walks and a number of nice rides (some more strenuous than others!)

Who we are

  1. We have two children; 15 and 13. My husband is a Director of an IT Consultancy and I am a Primary School teaching assistant. We love eating, drinking, scuba diving and generally being around water and beaches. (My husband is very allergic to cats - so we would not be able to exchange with any cat lovers!)

We treat our home with great care and would do the same with yours.

Your neighbourhood

The village has a pub and a playground. There are also several other village pubs nearby which serve very good food, and an excellent Indian restaurant which delivers to your door! The Westbury White Horse is only 5 minutes away, and there are many other walks close by. For golf lovers, Erlestoke Golf Club is only 5 minutes away.
We are very well located for other cities / attractions including:
The Roman City of Bath (35 minutes), Salisbury (35 minutes), Oxford (60 minutes), Cheltenham and Gloucester (75 minutes), Stonehenge (35 minutes) and Bradford on Avon (20 minutes).
On the south coast Weymouth and Poole are an hour’s drive with Plymouth only 2 1/2 hours away. We are also very well located for exploring further west into Cornwall with the M5 motorway only a 1-hour drive.
Bristol and Swindon are both 60 minutes away. London is only 1¼ hours on the Intercity fast train to London (Paddington) – the local station is only a 10 minute drive away.
