Our home

We have a detached house in Maidenhead which is 6 miles from Windsor, 8 miles from Henley and 30 miles west of London. In the house there are 2 sitting rooms both with Smart TVs, open plan dining and kitchen, downstairs toilet, 2 double bedrooms, one with ensuite, and 2 single bedrooms and a family bathroom. There are two private gardens which are very sunny with outdoor tables and seating. The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac and is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre. The town sits on the river Thames, has all the necessary shops, restaurants, pubs, parks. The station is only a 10 minute walk away and has regular trains ito the centre of London. Heathrow airport is about a 20 minute drive away. We are happy to do a car swap as well.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a retired couple with two grown up children and four grandchildren. I used to be a French teacher and Tony, my husband, was an electronics engineer. We started house exchanging about 15 years ago and had 5 successful exchanges in New Zealand, New York and Spain. We haven't done any swaps for a number of years now and would like to start again because we found it so much fun.

  2. We both love cycling and have recently bought ourselves some electric bikes which are just great! It means we can explore further afield. We also like walking, socialising, going to the theatre, cinema and museums. I also like playing badminton and I make costumes for a local amateur dramatic group in Maidenhead where we live.

Your neighbourhood

Our neighbourhood is very pleasant and quiet. The street we live in is a cul-de-sac with 22 houses. The people in the street are friendly, helpful and engaging. We have a street party every summer. Just around the corner is a great Indian restaurant that also does take-aways. One hundred metres away is a good pub, The Windsor Castle, that does excellent food. The main line railway station into London is a 10 minute walk away and the trains run every half hour. The town centre is also a 10 minute walk away. The neighbourhood is leafy and green with spacious houses and large gardens.
