Our home

We have a warm, welcoming and comfortable home. It’s a detached, 30 year old house at the end of a quiet close on the edge of a village and with easy access to countryside footpaths and the high street shops. Downstairs, we have a triple aspect lounge/dining room, a large and well equipped kitchen/breakfast room and a study. There is also a small utility room and a cloakroom.

Patio doors from our kitchen and dining rooms open onto a paved area and our small, enclosed garden. This has a level lawn, mixed borders, magnificent magnolia and wisteria (in the spring) and fruit trees.

Those who like to stay in touch can use our PC, printer/fax/copier, broadband, Sky TV (including Sky Sports) and four telephones!

Upstairs we have four bedrooms, one with an ensuite including a power shower, and a family bathroom with a spa bath.

Our home is fully equipped and safe for a baby or toddler (stairgates, cupboard locks, cot, books, toys and the usual baby equipment). Alternatively, if you don’t have young children, we can hide all the toys away!

Who we are

  1. We are a thirty-something and forty-something professional couple (project manager and accountant) who moved to Cuckfield eight years ago. We are convinced we really have the best of town and countryside living here!

    Our two year old daughter loves to walk through the churchyard to the organic farm shop where we buy our vegetables and eggs and see the farm animals. With our toddler in the backpack or cycle seat, we enjoy walking and cycling through beautiful countryside and woods just a few minutes from our door. When we have to go back to work we commute to our workplaces in Hove and Tunbridge Wells.

    Sarah enjoys bread making, jam making and nearly any sort of cooking. Paul enjoys eating her food and playing or watching cricket!

Ideally located as a touring base, Cuckfield offers easy access to the lively coastal town of Brighton & Hove (20 mins) and London (40 mins). Trains (from Haywards Heath) run until the early hours of the morning so going to a West End Show or dinner is not a problem.

Cuckfield is a village of about 3000 residents situated on the High Weald of Mid-Sussex. It has five public houses and several good restaurants including the Michelin-starred Ockenden Manor. The town of Haywards Heath (5 mins) has a good Leisure Centre (with indoor swimming pool), a wide selection of shops including supermarkets and plenty of bars and restaurants.

The local area is perfect for country walks and has several excellent Country Gardens including Wakehurst Place (10 mins) - known as Kew in the Country – and Borde Hill The village has excellent transport links and is only 15-20 mins drive from London Gatwick airport.
