Our home

This is a welcoming, spacious, comfortable and colourful home which is full of character and light, situated in the quiet Cornish fishing village of Porthleven.
Upstairs there is a large living room with comfortable sofas, a flat screen 32in TV and sea views, and downstairs there is a large comfortable kitchen/living room which is well-provided and also has sea views. To the front exterior there is a bench and gravel garden; to the rear, a rather windy and overgrown courtyard and garden on three levels. We have broadband. There is a small double bedroom with Vi-sprung mattress and sea view, and a single bedroom with sea view and full en suite bathroom. There is also a separate wet room/cloakroom.
We have an affectionate, though self sufficient cat who would keep you company and require feeding twice a day. She is perhaps not suitable for children under the age of 10, or people who do not have a cat of their own. (There is a cat flap so she lets herself in and out.)
The house is friendly and quiet with parking available most of the year in the road outside (except maybe when the surf's up and during August!)

Who we are

  1. Jona and I both worked as actors in the past, and I have had a varied career as a writer, campaigner, narrow boat-builder and jeweller, though I'm currently baking luxury fruitcakes! Both are in our early sixties and would like to travel more, preferably to historic city centres anywhere in the world as we do not have this stimulation here and would like a contrast. Jona is restoring an old wooden fishing boat and we both love music, friends, books etc. Really, we're open to any offer, at any time of the year.

Your neighbourhood

The South West Coastal path is one minute from the house, and the historic harbour is four minutes walk, with its craft shops and restaurants, together with chemist, small supermarket, post office, three public houses (inns) and friendly community. In winter it is a quiet retreat suitable for walkers, writers, explorers, fishermen, and food lovers. Within a ten mile radius there is horse-riding and golf. In summer there is a nearby beach and the whole of South West Cornwall to explore. Local Surfing is only for the very experienced.
We are situated ten miles from Falmouth, ten miles from Penzance, 25 miles from Truro and 20 miles from St. Ives.
Bristol airport is 4 hours away, Exeter Airport is 2.5hrs away, Newquay airport is 1.5 hrs away. Plymouth (for Ferries) is 2 hours drive, Penzance Railway Station is 20 mins. If timed well, we could collect you from either Newquay airport or Penzance station.
