Our home

Our home is a spacious, light-filled, Edwardian home built just over 100 years ago with a good sized garden and overlooking a park. It was fully renovated in 2013 and still retains some period details. There are two living rooms: one we use as an office/library and is at the front of the house. The second is at the back of the house overlooking the garden. The dining room is attached to the kitchen with easy access to the garden where we like to eat out when the weather is fine. The dining table is large enough to seat eight.
Upstairs there are four large double bedrooms. They all have new cupboards, carpets and curtains and two are ensuite. The family bathroom has a tub. There is an additional WC downstairs.
There is a separate laundry room at the top of the house with washing machine and dryer.
The house is painted in light, bright colours throughout and there is substantial parking space at the front,

Who we are

  1. Nick owns his own company Oxford Chelt Wine School (www.oxfordcheltwineschool.com) teaching wine tasting and running corporate wine tasting events. Serena is a voice over artist (www.voiceoverserena.com)currently specialising in narrating books. We are both in our mid 50s. Our boys are aged 19 and 15; one is soon to go to university to study German and Business while the other is still at school. They enjoy the usual typical boy interests such as sport and music.
Nick is very keen to visit wine growing areas in Europe, but particularly Alsace in 2015, and we are happy to go along with him! We also enjoy exploring local culture on our trips abroad rather than sitting on a beach.
We have recently renovated our own home and will always treat our exchange partners' homes with the care we hope they would show ours!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We chose to live in Cheltenham after returning from many years abroad because of its delightful Regency architecture and for its excellent shopping and restaurants. There is also a theatre, festivals, a lido, tennis courts, golf, croquet, cricket and squash facilities near to our home. London is easily reached on the coach as are Oxford, Bristol, Birmingham, Bath and Wales.
Closer to home is the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, its charming old villages with their wonderful antique shops, pubs, food fairs and festivals.
There are museums and fine houses to visit, castles, a roman villa, the Cotswold Water Park and the Avon Valley Railway. You and your family are spoiled for choice in the county of Gloucestershire!
Our house is in a very quiet road opposite a school which is closed of course during the summer holidays. We are about a 10-12 minute walk from the centre of Cheltenham and the shops.
Our road is lined with large, attractive houses and leads up the hill to a private estate which means there is very little traffic. We are just 10 minutes walk from the countryside.
You can also walk to several nice pubs from here as well as to one of England's best fish and chip shops! Cheltenham hospital is a short walk away as is a wonderful Italian delicatessen, pharmacy and mini supermarket.
