Our home

Delightful, spacious, modern, chalet bungalow (semi-detached)in a quiet cul-de-sac, with friendly neighbours. Large kitchen/diner; the kitchen area having Tuscan tiles and the dining area natural pine floorboards. Large lounge with picture window to the front and patio doors at the back, leading to a York stone patio area (not overlooked). There is also a small paved seating area at the front of the house. The kitchen has all the necessary equipment, pine dresser and large table (which extends) and six chairs. The large lounge has natural pine floorboards, with a modern fireplace and excellent coal-effect gas fire. Two very comfortable sofas and an easy chair make it a very relaxing place. There is a 36" plasma tv in the lounge and a tv also in the kitchen. The open staircase leads to two spacious double bedrooms, both having ample wardrobes and dressers, and with views to the Yorkshire Wolds. Both beds are new and all bedding spotlessly clean. We think our home is extremely comfortable, clean and uncluttered. In fact, we love it, and hope you will too. Outside there is a drive leading to a brick built garage, with manageable gardens at front, side and rear. There is also a small garden shed.

Who we are

  1. We are Alan and Christine. We are both 65 years of age and have been retired for five years. Alan was a Sales Manager for a large printing company and I worked for the Probation Service as a Case Administrator. Since retiring we have travelled extensively, having just returned from a nine-week trip around Europe. We adore Australia, especially Perth, and have visited on several occasions, when we have rented property in Perth, but as the cost of renting has escalated so much we have decided a house exchange would be a better option. We have several good friends in Perth now and think of it as almost our home. We play golf here at Filey, a lovely seaside resort only four miles from Cayton, and also enjoy walking, bowling, the beach and most outdoor activities. (Thoroughly enjoy following the West Coast Eagles when in Perth.) We want to live life to the full while we are well enough to do so.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is in the pretty village of Cayton, only four miles from the seaside town of Scarborough and one mile from the clifftops and the beautiful bay of Cayton. Cayton is a very friendly village with two public houses (with Quiz nights and entertainment) and various activities in the village halls. We are near the beautiful old town of Whitby (where Captain Cook originated from) and the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors (Heartbeat country) with its picture-postcard villages. The Yorkshire Dales are within easy distance and the exceptional scenery of the Lake District too is not far away. The historic town of York is only three-quarters of an hour's drive away. You will love it!
