Our home

Our Cambridge home is a classic Victorian style terrace family home - but only built around 13 years ago so everything inside is in great condition with some lovely original features such as reclaimed original floorboards on the ground floor. We've recently had the whole house painted and a new bathroom and en suite installed. The garden is a classic small central Cambridge garden but was landscaped by a garden designer for maximum seating and space. We have a big slide, small sandpit and a lovely playhouse for children.

The house sits on a lovely road of similar Victorian houses and is a 15 minute walk or very fast cycle ride right into the centre of town - we can leave 3 bikes for your use. One road away and across the bridge over the River Cam is the wonderful Midsummer Common.

The house is a four-bedroom property over three floors - on the first floor is a bathroom, a double bedroom at the front, a single adult sized cabin bed in the middle bedroom and finally a smaller bedroom at the back of the house which we use as an office. On the top floor is a large master bedroom and ensuite - with velux windows but lots of standing space.

Recently (April 2016) work has been completed on renovating our bathrooms, cloakroom and retiling the kitchen, along with interior painting and wallpapering, so the house is in lovely condition.

Now that we have our toddler daughter, we have a lot of toys which you are very welcome to use, along with items such as a travel cot and baby bath.

The house is warm, modern in style, uncluttered and fantastically located.

Who we are

  1. We are Liz and Alan - in our 40s with a 4 year old daughter, growing fast! We love home exchanging and have enjoyed 16 great swaps to date. We love cities such as Paris, Bangkok, Barcelona etc. Liz is an events manager, often involved in hospitality events, so we feel we can really present a great house with everything you might need for a fab stay. We are easy-going and open and deeply appreciate travel and would love to live as a local. We love cats and would be delighted to take care of any, if helpful! Please note we are unable to offer any long term exchange, the maximum holiday time we would be looking for is 2 weeks, and we're also very interested in long weekends in Europe/the UK.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is a short walk or cycle ride from the centre of Cambridge, a world-famous historic university city, with buildings and colleges dating back hundreds of years. The university recently celebrated its 800th anniversary.

Cambridge is a picture-perfect city, one of England's most beautiful and popular places to visit. Alongside the colleges and architecture, the shopping is also wonderful, with a daily market in the middle of town, a new covered shopping arcade and roads and roads of high street names alongside original shops. The town has many great restaurants and cafes, cinemas, theatres, punting on the river, river walks, swimming and sports centres.

London is around 50 miles away, with fast trains into King's Cross taking 50 minutes. Many other historic towns such as Ely, Bury St Edmunds and so on are a short drive away, as are many historic National Trust properties such as Wimpole Hall.

Cambridge has many open green spaces right in the city and really is the perfect blend of city life but with a quality of living that is hard to match.
