Our home

Our home was purchased in the summer of 2013 and thoroughly modernized with new kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, carpeting, decorating, etc. It is south facing and full of sunshine all day with an open plan and plenty of space for our three children (5, 8, 10). On the first floor are 4 bedrooms and a study with pull-out sleeper sofa. One of the bedrooms has a single bed with guard rail. Our son's bedroom has a loft bed that can have a blow-up mattress put underneath. Our daughter's room has a cabin bed. Both have a collection of children's books and toys. The living room has a piano. The garden is lovely with established plants and trees, including two apple trees. There is a grill for your use and an outdoor table with seating for 6. There is a 14ft(4m) trampoline, which offers hours of fun. We are 100 yards from the bus stop, 2 mile cycle ride to city centre and within walking distance to shops (grocery store, pharmacy, etc.) and parks. We also have an array of bicycles that would be available for use.

Who we are

  1. We are an American family who has lived in Cambridge for 8 years and thoroughly enjoys all that this beautiful city has to offer, especially for families. There is always something to experience, from the Museums, to the Botanic Gardens and College Gardens, to taking long walks along the river. The town is ideally suited for walking and cycling and has a wonderful public transportation system. Our children love being able to walk to the local shops and parks and visit the museums on a regular basis. We are spoiled by the endless supply of pubs and restaurants as well as theatre and music offerings.

We have done one exchange, and would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in the UK.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live on a beautiful street on the north side of Cambridge, just over a mile to Magdalene College, and punting on the Cam. City Centre is a 25 minute walk or a 10-15 minute cycle ride. There is also a bus stop a hundred yards away. The country's longest outdoor swimming pool at Jesus Green is a 25 minute walk and we are fortunate to have several wonderful children's playgrounds nearby (.6 miles). Local food shops, newsagents, pharmacy etc are less than .5 mile away. The train station, with regular direct trains to London, is 3 miles away.
