Our home

Our home is a large apartment in a Grade 2 listed building set overlooking a Victorian Park in the Spa Town of Buxton, Derbyshire. We have recently renovated the apartment and everything is clean and modern whilst still retaining the character of the house which dates back to the late 1800s.
There are beautiful views over the park lake and surrounding hills.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Jill & Doug. I am a retired Bank worker and my husband works in Manchester in IT, he is now retired from his previous job as a Bank Manager. All our children (5) have left home. We spend a lot of our time walking in the Peak and Lake District and our grandchildren (5) are a joy. We would like to arrange a possible house swap preferably in or near to Melbourne, during the month of November 2006. This will be our first house swap and seems like an ideal way to visit relatives in Australia for us.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our flat is in a conservation area overlooking the Pavilion Gardens in the Spa town of Buxton. The town has wonderful Victorian buildings including the famous Buxton Opera House and Crescent, it also has a very interesting shopping arcade set in the old Spa Baths. Manchester Airport is about 45 mins away, the train runs to Manchester City from Buxton station every hour and takes about 1 hour. The Peak District offers spectacular scenery and is a walkers paradise.
