Our home

Magical medieval timbered cottage right on the village green, within 5 minutes walk of historic 12th century church, directly opposite National Trust Melford Hall, and surrounded by beautiful rural walks through water meadows by the river and open farmland, where dogs can run off the lead.

I work as an interior designer, so all the furniture was chosen for maximum comfort and a relaxed feel (especially the beds, which are super supportive & comfortable).

Downstairs there are three spacious receptions with brick floors/rugs & timbered ceilings/walls (morning room with breakfast table & working fireplace, sitting room with huge inglenook & wood burner, open plan to a separate dining area with dining table for 6.) and a well equipped kitchen with all mod cons - dishwasher, micro, fridge/freezer, range cooker and adjacent utility area with washing machine & separate dryer.
Also downstairs we have a bathroom with WC & powerful shower over bath and a handy boots/coat area by the back door when you get back from muddy walks! The upstairs shower room also has a powerful walk in showerWC & basin.

The main staircase leads to the master bedroom, shower room & bedroom 3 - bedroom two is accessed by it's own very old timber staircase.

The front & rear gardens are both well fenced & dog/child proof.
Well behaved dogs and children are welcome.

NB - As there are a few uneven, sloping timber floors & low thresholds/doorways, we feel the cottage isn't suitable for anyone with impaired mobility.

Who we are

  1. We are a middle aged couple based in Suffolk; I work as an interior designer & Guy is a sports journalist.

We don't have children but do live with a small well behaved cockerpoo (non allergenic & doesn't shed!) who would come with us on any swaps.
