Our home

My home is an airy detached house on a secure, private estate. I think the best part of the house is the large, open plan sitting and dining room with sunny patio windows, comfy sofas and a dining table that seats six. There is a small private garden front and back, and the whole house is set in a private estate with lawns, trees flower beds, a fish pond and a shared outdoor, heated pool. Downstairs, in addition to the open plan dining/sitting room, there is a kitchen and a toilet with washbasin and shower. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with a double bed and one room has 2 single beds. There is a family bathroom and an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom. The kitchen has a cooker, fridge, freezer and clothes washing machine. Outside there is a detached double garage with parking for the car, a VW 7 seater, which we may be willing to be part of the exchange.

The house is bright, modern and uncluttered.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired nurse-teacher aged 72 living on my own in this house. My daughter, her husband and their two children, Alice aged 12 and Max aged 10 would like to travel with me to Sydney Australia to visit my brother and his family. My brother lives in a Retirement village in St. Ives and, ideally, we would like to be as near to them as possible. My house has 4 bedrooms but as I use one as a study this will be closed whilst I am away.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Within 10 minutes walk of the house there is a small parade of shops, a large park with play area, tennis courts, cafés and velodrome, plus a railway station (Preston Park) on the mainline to London (50 minutes).

The centre of Brighton (a vibrant city sometimes called London by the Sea) is 1 mile away, only 20 mins walk, or ten mins on a bus. Brighton is famous for the Royal Pavilion, a magnificent house built by the Prince Regent as a seaside home in the style of an Indian Palace. There are many Regency Crescents and an old area called The Lanes with antique shops. The beach is pebble with a Pier, children's playgrounds, cinemas, restaurants and many tourist attractions. The South Downs National Park is a beautiful area of Outstanding natural beauty, within 2 miles of the house, where there is plenty of horse riding, hang gliding, walking on chalk hills (known as Downs). The Marina at Brighton has boat and fishing trips and more restaurants.

With London only one hour away by train it is a fantastic place to base yourselves for day trips to the capital. To travel even further afield the house is conveniently placed for Gatwick airport (20miles away). A coach for Gatwick stops at the bottom of my road!
