Our home

This is our second home situated in the small village of Boldron. It is a stone built, 4 bedroomed house with lounge, dining room and a good sized well fitted kitchen. It has full central heating and a gas fire in the lounge. There are front and rear gardens, the rear having a patio area with tables, chairs etc. The rear aspect overlooks farmland and the Tees Valley towards Barnard Castle.
Two of the bedrooms have double beds, one has a single bed with the fourth bedroom being currently used as a study. A cot bed is available, if required.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Ian and Jean, a married couple with 3 grown up children and 2 grandchildren. This is our second home in an area we love for it's unspoilt beauty and accessibility. Because it's a second home we can be very flexible regarding exchange dates.
We have lived and worked all over the world due to the nature of Ian's work as an engineer and are currently resident in the Lake District. This will be our first home exchange, initially we would like to exchange with a property on the Gold Coast (Australia), as our son has recently married and is living there.

This historic town sits on the River Tees and boasts a medieval castle, cobbled high street and ancient buttermarket. Beautiful walking country on the doorstep with many places to visit such as Raby Castle, High Force waterfall, Bowes Museum. Hamsterley Forest is just a short drive away with mountain bikes for hire
Located only a short drive from the main A1 North / South Motorway and is ideally situated for day trips to York, Newcastle, The Lake District, Ripon and Durham, These are all approximately 1 hours drive. Slightly further afield are Northumberland, Whitby, Leeds, Manchester which are all possible to visit in a day.
Nearest main line railway station is Darlington, with excellent direct connections to London and Edinburgh both about 2hours 20 minutes away. Airports at Newcastle (1 hour), Durham Tees Valley (30min) serve the area.
