Our home

We have a beautiful looking traditional stone house which has had a full Eco renovation carried out throughout 2012, so it now benefits from high levels of insulation, solar panels, log stove, underfloor heating in the kitchen and low energy appliances, so you can enjoy our lovely home without worrying about your impact on the environment.
The rooms are decorated in a simple modern style, mainly with white walls complimented by the original dark wooden doors and woodwork, with lots of paintings and photos dotted around here and there.
Outside we have gardens front and rear with a variety and plants and fruit trees, plus plenty of off street parking.
So this is a warm cozy house which we are confident you will enjoy.

Who we are

  1. My name is John and my wife is Elaine, and we have lived and worked in the town for 20 years. We currently run the extension at the rear of our home as a bed and breakfast business in the summer months.
I have been a keen environmentalist for a number of years, hence the Eco renovation we did on our home and my attempt to grow as much organic fruit and vegetables in our garden. I also keep bees for honey and chickens for fresh eggs every day.
We are both involved with the local theatre group and I play in a small ukulele band in the town. See: www.thedukesofuke.org.uk

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are situated in a beautiful area of Scotland with lots of wonderful countryside around to enjoy, but still only 30 minutes from Edinburgh and 45 minutes from Glasgow where you can enjoy an abundance of shops and things to see and do.
Our lovely little market town of Biggar has lots of history attached to it which can be seen and read about in the museums in the town. The vast majority of or shops in the town are still privately owned and we have the famous "Purves Puppet Theatre" for the children to enjoy.
There are two main parks in the town and a variety of sports to enjoy from golf and tennis to bowls and horse riding. The river Clyde is just a mile away, where lots of fishermen can regularly be seen casting their rods.
