Our home

Our house is a very special Edwardian seafront house, forming part of a terrace of Moghul-inspired houses whose 90 ft gardens open to the promenade, beach and sea. Not a car in sight! Light pours in and the view is lovely.

We have an open plan living and dining room, a study/bedroom, a children's room/bedroom, two double bedrooms which open onto the balcony, and three tiled bathrooms, one en suite.

This is the kind of house that once you are sitting on the terrace gazing out to sea, or walking by the sea, it is hard to leave, although the rest of East Sussex awaits!

Who we are

  1. We are Viv and David, both British, and recently retired following 15 years working in international organisations in Denmark. We had careers in communications, public health and environmental policy. We have four daughters and five grandchildren, and we have a house in South London, which could also be part of this swap from autumn 2015.

We love theatre, films, current affairs, cycling, music, swimming and walking. We have done several few house swaps over the years, all a success, and we would look after your house with great care.

Your neighbourhood

Bexhill-on-Sea is a quiet and friendly place on England's south coast. The house is in the middle of everything, with the sea one side, Bexhill's many quirky shops the other (including butchers, bakers, etc)and the De la Warr Pavilion next door - the iconic modernist centre for the arts built in the 1930s. A terrific playground is nearby and lots of cafes not to mention fish and chips shops.

You are not far from Bodiham Castle, Battle Abbey (where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066) and the picturesque towns of Rye, Winchelsea and Alfriston, not to mention the South Downs. For those who love gardens, Great Dixter is not far away, and Sissinghurst. The Bloomsbury Group loved East Sussex.

There is parking outside the house. Bexhill has its own railway station just 7 minutes walk away. Bikes can be hired and you can whizz along the prom all the way to Hastings.
