Our home

Our home is a 2 bedroom 1920s semi-detached house which sleeps 5 (double sofa bed in living room). It overlooks a green with a 16th century covered well and is in a quiet cul de sac. The living room is cosy and comfortable with bare boards; the main bedroom is large and spacious with period elements such as the fireplace and antique furniture. The whole family can sit and eat in the kitchen/diner and there is a computer alcove ajoining this room. The garden, on 2 levels, has a decking terrace. We are uphill so there is a pleasant view and we love seeing the sunrise from our daughter's bedroom.

Who we are

  1. We are both teachers and have a 3 year old daughter. My partner teaches sociology and psychology and I teach Spanish and French. We are interested in the natural world and trying to live sustainably; also we enjoy London's cultural attractions. We are excited by travel and are eager to spend 2 - 4 weeks in Canada with all it has to offer! It is our first home exchange and we are very much looking forward to it!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is situated 20 minutes'walk from High Barnet town centre, a small, attractive and friendly place with locally run coffee shops and an array of restaurants. There are also duck ponds and woods very nearby. We are 10 minutes' walk from fields and river walks, and 5 mins' drive or bus journey from the tube station, which takes you into the centre of London in 30 minutes. We love our situation as it is the best of both worlds - the city of London and all that that brings, and we are on the edge of the countryside so can go for a walk and hear the birdsong at any time. The motorway (M25) is 10 mins' drive, which is highly convenient leading to the M1 - the main artery to the rest of Britain.
