Our home

Set in a beautiful Highland village this is a warm, modern family house in walking distance from the village. Surrounded by countryside and with good rail access the house easily sleeps 7. There is a south facing garden with patio and chairs and good views to the mountains.

There is a woodburning stove for cosy evenings by the fire and a very well equipped kitchen.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the house is fully carpeted apart from the kitchen and hall. There is a garage where bikes can be stored.

The house has a smart TV and hi-fi and a large sunny kitchen and dining area.

Who we are

  1. We are a happy family of four with a golden retriever. Dad is a doctor, mum a writer and our boys are musical and sporty - aged 16 and 14. We have a wide range of friends and family scattered round the globe!

We love time reading together, travelling and talking. We are active members of our local church and enjoy the outdoors and making music on guitar, flute, piano, bagpipes or just singing.

We speak only a tiny bit of French, but good Nepali as we lived in South Asia for five years doing development work.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in the Cairngorms National Park - an area of outstanding natural beauty and protected by law. This includes mountains where there is an abundance of walking, climbing and mountaineering possibilities and local guides can be obtained if needed. There are also easy short walks along rivers and glens with stunning scenery and wildlife.

In the summer there is sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing at the watersports centre a mile from the house, or you can just relax on the deck with a drink and watch the boats as the sun goes down.

You can also walk to our cosy pub where there is an open fire and hot meals and locally produced ales and whisky are served. The area has quiet roads and an abundance of cafes, pubs and restaurants serving anything from simple meals to fine dining.

There is world class mountain biking in the area, including downhill, cross country and recreational.

If you have a car then you can visit castles, distilleries, galleries and beaches within an hour's drive.

We are on a mainline rail route. The sleeper train from London arrives at 7am in a nearby village, Kingussie and there is an airport 40 miles away in Inverness, or 2 hours away in Edinburgh, both accessible by rail, taxi or road.
