My house has views across the valley of Ashburton and is on a hill with easy access to the town and also to local walks in the rolling hills that surround the town. My home has a loft conversion with a double sofa bed and 3 bedrooms ( one double bed , one with a single bed and a small bedroom which I use as a spare room)The single bedroom has an en suite toilet and shower and there is another bathroom downstair with toilet , shower and bath.. There is a long garden with an apple tree, vegetable garden and greenhouse. The house has stupendous views and is near to all the local facilities - shops, arts centre, sports centre and most of all the beautiful River Dart and Dartmoor National Park.
Ashburton is a small friendly town on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and the river Dart (which is brilliant for swimming or kayaking) and it has all the amenities and small local shops that you could need. The moor is wild and unspoiled, with huge granite tors and wild ponies grazing in their shelter.
The sea is not far away with the wild beaches of the South Hams or the gentler beaches of Torbay and plenty to explore along the varied coastline, with some great surfing beaches.
The town has a foodie reputation with many cafes, good restaurants and the famous Ashburton Cookery School. There is a thriving community with a community-run swimming pool and Arts centre.
I am a teacher and have a grown son who lives in Spain. I speak Spanish and French, love travelling and want to spend some time out seeing more of the world.
Ashburton is a thriving community with a small Arts Centre, traditional shops and excellent access to the River Dart and Dartmoor National Park, I have fabulous views from the house - it is an ex council house with a long sloping garden, looking out on to trees and hills.
