Our home

Our cottage consists downstairs of a living room with a fireplace and beamed ceiling, which leads to a kitchen/breakfast rooom. There is also a downstairs claokroom. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. Both with ensuite facilites, one is a bathroom one a shower-room. Finally there is an attic room, with a double sofa bed. We use this room as a guest room or to watch films as the large screen TV is up here and a 1950s home bar. The whole cottage was complety renovated during 2009. The kitchen, bathrooms and downstairs toilet are all brand new. However, we feel we have retained the character of the cottage with renovation sympathetic to the structure. The cottage had been previously been untouched since the 1970s! Outside there is a carport and off street and on street parking. There is a cute cottage style-garden to the rear with a paved terrace. The cottage keeps the sun into the late afternoon and has been the venue for many a BBQ.

Your neighbourhood

Our second home is a Grade II listed 18th century period cottage situated in the centre of the village of Appledore, on the Kent/Sussex border. There is a village store, post office, 13th century church, public house with excellent food and a doctor's surgery. There is a railway station on the Hastings [1066 country] to Ashford [Eurostar to Paris] line. This now has a highspeed link to London, making the centre of London less than 30 minutes away. 6 miles to the north is Tenterden with a leisure centre, usual high street shops and many antique boutiques. To the south is Rye with cobbled streets, period architecture and weekly farmers market. Within a 30 mins drive is a myriad of museums, galleries, historical venues and general sites of interest, such Leeds Castle, Camber Sands [6 miles of glorious beach], Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway and vienyards for wine tasting.
