Our home

Our house was designed by an architect for himself in 1957, using innovative materials and styling which remain contemporary today. The house is laid out spaciously with most of the living space on the ground floor (three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, family room) and an upper floor with internal gallery landing and further fourth study/bedroom. The ground floor has an open-plan feel with the sitting room, dining room and kitchen being interconnected.

We are a family with a girl and boy aged six and eight. Internal furnishings are therefore a mixture of family antique items and some more modern kids' furnishings/toys.

The house is fully kitted out for family living with everything you would expect in a high quality home.

The one-acre garden is a feature, with a large cedar deck connected to the house, outdoor furniture, all-year round colour, an organic vegetable garden, fruit cage and apple / soft-fruit orchard, BBQ, washing lines and chickens (you will get fresh eggs every day…). You are not overlooked and have total privacy.

Who we are

  1. My husband (Alex) and I (Marielle) are in our early 40s with two children aged six and eight. Alex is a director of his own healthcare company and I work in marketing on a freelance basis. I'm French and Alex is English.

We have quite an holistic and natural approach to life. You will not be exposed to any home or garden chemicals here!

We get as much pleasure in giving our home to another family or couple as we do in going on holiday ourselves - everything here is to be used and enjoyed.

Living in Farley Green is like being permanently on holiday - it is really an idyllic location (making it a very sought after area).

We have 2 one year old kittens. Like the chickens, they are looked after by a neighbor unless you'd like to take responsibility for a daily feed and egg collection!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is situated in an envious position. We are right on the village green at Farley Green in a stunning rural location. Farley Green is a couple of miles from Shere which has been used for "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and the 2006 film "Holiday" as featured on the home page of HomeForExchange! (Shere is where Cameron Diaz came to spend her holiday in the film…).

There is a lot going on locally to keep anyone busy and happy for many weeks! You would have the opportunity to explore and visit many things including:

- local villages & historic town of Guildford.

- amazing walking & cycling (you can walk/cycle in any direction from the house and be immediately in gorgeous English countryside with lovely quaint lanes, forests, healthland, rivers;

- trout fly fishing at Albury (two miles away)

- crayfish hand-fishing in local rivers

- birdwatching

- cycling / mountain biking (the trails are magnificent)

- horse riding (several local stables offering tuition & hacking - one of England's best equestrian spots)

- only 40 minutes from Heathrow & Gatwick airports

- only 45 minutes by train to London (from Clandon station) or 35 minutes from Guildford

- only one hour to the south coast (Portsmouth, Chichester, Brighton…)

- 30 minutes to Windsor or Hampton Court

- 20-45 minutes to Legoland, Chessington World of Adventures, Bocketts Farm, Fishers Farm…
