Our home

Our home is a modern, detached house, with an enclosed garden at the rear. We are located in a safe, quiet area within easy reach of all the many amenities that our town has to offer.

Downstairs, we have a lounge fitted with a widescreen plasma television, separate dining room, kitchen, sun room and guest cloakroom, complete with w.c. and basin.

Upstairs, we have three or four bedrooms, offering accommodation for up to four. The master bedroom has a king size double bed, as well as an en-suite bathroom, consisting of a shower, wash basin and w.c. There are 2 further bedrooms, each with a single bed. The fourth bedroom is used exclusively as a study. We have a separate bathroom, which is fitted with a bath/shower, w.c and wash basin.

At the front, there is plenty of room to park cars in our drive.

Who we are

  1. We are a still young couple, despite recently becoming Grandparents for the first time, in our early sixties . Our three children now have homes of their own. Caroline works with disadvantaged children and David works in the packaging industry. We are non-smokers who enjoy the opportunity to stay in a real home rather than a hotel.

This year, we are looking for an exchange in Europe that offers us the opportunity to explore and maybe, make new friends. We are very active and like to spend our time either visiting interesting towns and cities or hiking in lovely countryside, particularly hills and mountains.

As experienced exchangers, we would be pleased to provide information and advice about our area and travelling arrangements.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We moved to Shrewsbury because it's a beautiful, historic town, with friendly, people. Please see www.visitshrewsbury.co.uk. It really is a wonderful place to live and it's in an excellent place from which to explore.

Good road and rail links provide easy access to so much of the best that both England and Wales, have to offer. Day trips could include visits to London, York, Chester, Stratford Upon Avon, Bath, Liverpool, Alton Towers (the UK's biggest theme Park), the Welsh coast and so many other destinations. . You will be spoilt for choice.

Best restaurants
Lots of local places to eat, depending upon your tastes and budget
Pubs, some with facilities for children are within easy reach. In the town there are theatres, cinemas, a bowling alley, a large park etc
Where to go shopping
Shrewsbury, has an excellent shopping centre and there are many nearby towns to explore, each with their own shopping centres. Big city shopping is available at Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. All worth exploring in their own right.
Your area's cultural and historical landmarks
Our house is located on the site of a major battle, fought in 1403 and there is a nearby visitors centre. In the town, we have a castle, cathedral, abbey, along some other fine churches. We have, museums, a medieval market place and many interesting buildings. It's a river town full of interest. On the outskirts there is a stately home that can be visited and within an hours drive their are some many historic towns to visit.
Local walks
One of the main reasons that we moved here is for the wonderful walking that is easily available. Wales and the Snowdonia National Park are not far away and the Shropshire Hills are even nearer. We can provide you with lots of routes, if you want good walking, ranging from river walks, besides a steam railway to mountain ascents. We can also arrange for you to walk with some of our friends, if you would like to.
Places you love to exercise
We are right on the edge of town, so the countryside is just a short stride away, for an evening walk. There are also local cycle paths and so many places to visit and walk from
Top day trips
Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Chester, Liverpool, Ironbridge, Snowdon, Barmouth and many, many more
