Our home

Our home is a traditional London house. Built over 100 years ago, it is spacious (by London standards) and has four bedrooms, a garden and a large living room. There are double doors from the kitchen to the garden. Half a floor up is our living room with a projector to watch films, a stereo and large comfy sofa. One of the four bedrooms is currently used as an office (we both work from home) but there are spare mattresses to turn it into a bedroom if necessary. Needless to say, we have hi-speed wi-fi, an espresso coffee machine and all the other things that freelancers need to survive!

Who we are

  1. We are a couple with 2 little kids. I (Marianne - 41) am Dutch and (Jonathan - 41) is an original English gentleman. Our little boy Cas is 3 years old and we have a girl Floren who is 2. We both are freelancers and therefore very flexible. I work as a fashion/print designer and Jonathan writes English course books. We have a car as well which we can be included in the swap.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are on a quiet road in a lovely neighbourhood with many nice, independent places to eat, second-hand and designer shops, pubs and a park just around the corner. This is one of the best places in London for families with children owing to the large number of parks and green spaces in the area, but it's also popular with students and young adults who like the relaxed, safe nature of the area . A bike ride away you can find Hackney Marshes, one of London's largest open green spaces and next to the site of the 2012 Olympics. There is a park and a river which runs through the marshes. A 15-mins bus ride away and you're in Islington, which is a trendy and lively area with numerous restaurants, bars and shops. This is where 'central London' starts. You can get to the heart of London by bus/tube in 40 minutes.
