Our home

Our home is beautifully located in a green and friendly area next to a natural resort (Rotsee), but still in the city of Lucerne. We live on the 3rd floor in a 4 room apartment which is not big, but nice and pretty; it offers sight to the lake and the mountains. Looking from outside, the building is nothing overwhelming, but inside it has a special charm from the fifties. (pictures will be presented soon.)
Our apartment has two living rooms, one with dining table for up to 8 people, a sofa and a balcony and the other with entertainment system (big cinema screen) and comfortable corner sofa. We have a cute kitchen with table and a small balcony, one bath room/toilet, a bedroom for adults with a king size bed and next to it the bedroom for our two children with toys and drawing desk. We also have a small tinkering studio for the children in the basement (next to washing area, bicycles and cellars). Outside there is lawn around the house, but (unfortunately) no vegetable or big flower garden. But nature is only a few steps aside..

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a familiy of four. Bea and Roland with our girl Ada (6) and our boy Rico (3). My partner and I are both photographers and we have a studio/atelier close by, working in commercial, cultural and free projects. I also work part time as a photo and design teacher at the Art School in Zurich. We switch from family to business and back to family and like to share our interest and fascination for pictures, film and whatever is going on in the world..

We haven't done any home exchanges yet, but know of friends who did. We have good travelling experiences and will take good care of your home.
(We are looking forward to a possible long term exchange of 6 weeks in San Francisco this summer (June/July/August 2012) to enjoy the last year before primary school starts.)

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

In our house (8 tenants) and in our neighbourhood in general there live other families with children, but there are also other people of all age, an interesting mixture. The street we live on is a small one way street for the people living there; children play there and joggers pass bye (or once a year you can wathch the amazing rowers during the rowing world champion ship). Opposite our house there are long stairs down to the big green park area at the Rotsee with small lake, forest, playground, area for walking, jogging, rowing (only for members) and swimming in the lake in the middle of a charming natural scenery. In the environs, like actually in most parts of the city there are small food and non food shops, enterprises, cafes, galleries, schools, playgrounds and gym places. Everything is close by, city life, culture and nature, - typical swiss. Very good public transportation system (bus station close; 10 min. to main station and to downtown with its famous art museum and orchestra hall). Near access to highway. Within 20 to 50 minutes you reach alpine mountain and lake sites as well as other cities like Zurich, Basel, Bern or Lugano. Actually you can say Lucerne is located in the heart of Switzerland and Europe.
