Our home

Our home is located on the first floor of a two story building. The apartment has the following qualities: The open kitchen-living room area makes it very comfortable for a familie to live in. It is in a quiet location. Lots of windows make it bright and allow views all the way to the hills of France. It is also very suitable for children with a big room being theirs with a handbuild oversize bunk bed which even I love to sleep in - it is so comfortable. The children room has an extra single bed as well. Our garden is kind of wild, has the longest swing in the area, a hollywood swing chair and a place for an open fire with BBQ.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of five with three boys aged 12, 10 and 6 years. With a german mother and an american father the kids grow up bilingual. We both work in the fields of natural health, nutrition and healing. The two oldest boys are born in Santa Cruz, CA, USA were we lived before we moved to New Zealand, Golden Bay, South Island for two years. For the last five years we have been in Switzerland, where we enjoy the mountains but miss the ocean and its beaches!

Your neighbourhood

Even though we are very close to Basel (just 7 min by train) we live in a rural community with fields, open space, streams and access to forests in less than 10 min. Our village, Dornach, is the world center of Anthroposophical Studies with the world famous building the "Goetheanum". People from all over the world come to partake in seminars, workshops and trainings. Many houses in the neighborhood are designed in an "anthroposophical building style". Most known of this system are the Waldorf/Rudolf Steiner-Schools as well as the biodynamic farming. Many major Swiss cities can be reached in less than an hour: Basel, Zürich, Bern, Luzern to mention a few. And even the big mountains are not more than 2-3 hours away. Our neighborhood is best described in a short sentence like my friend once did: "You live like in Bullerbü." (home of Astrid Lindgren stories). Basel has many historical buildings and a large intact Altstadt (old town) which brings Basel's more than 2000 years of history to life. Basel offers all the amenitites of a large city while remaining managable. Airport: The Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse - located at the 3-country-corner where F and D and CH meet - is just 20 min away. Germany and France (Alsace) can be reached in less than 15 min. Some internet sites you might like to look at: www.Basel.com www.Basel.ch www.museenbasel.ch www.myswitzerland.com www.goethenaum.org
