Our home

Our home is an architect designed bungalow completed in 2008 in the style of the planter's bungalows from the colonial era. It is spacious and naturally cool with high ceilings and verandas. Each bedroom is en-suite. and there is a large living room and dining room with a fully equipped kitchen in mahogany and granite. All rooms have French windows opening onto the verandah and are furnished with high quality mahogany and draped with raw silk curtains and furnishings. The house has 2.5 acres of garden with a stream and a 12 metre swimming pool. It also has dramatic views of the mountains. We have a couple who look after the house and our guests - they are lovely people and excellent cooks of the local cuisine.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer swaps in August or from 10th December - 10th January As those are the times when we are busiest with paying guests - but if you want to consider staying during those times we offer good discounts to home-swappers!

Who we are

  1. We are a couple in our 60's and our home - Jungle Tide is our spacious home in Sri Lanka, which we cannot swap between 25th July and 25th August. I was born and brought up in Sri Lanka as the daughter of a British tea planter and luckily for me my husband fell in love with the country and was more than willing to retire there.
We also run Jungle Tide as a guest house and you can find some excellent reviews on Trip Advisor! we want to swap our home whenever possible as it gives us the chance to travel the world and also to return to Britain to visit our children and Grand Children.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located on a tea estate about 11k from the historic town of Kandy which is a world Heritage City. It's elevation is about 1,000m and it has a delightful climate - hot in the day and cool in the evenings. there is an abundance of tropical birds and butterflies in our garden and occasionally you will see a mongoose, monitor lizard, porcupine or wild boar. The walking and rambling is delightful, and can be demanding if you want it to be. Most of all though it is a place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the 'real Sri' Lanka.

Kandy will provide lots of cultural interest and it is possible to make day trips to many of Sri Lanka's most famous attractions. However the one thing we do not have is a buzzing nightlife! This is a place to come if you want to relax and enjoy the wonders of this island paradise!
