Our home

Our home is a reformed old cortijo (cottage). The main house has a modern kitchen with adjoining dining room, lounge and conservatory, but we usually eat outside on one of our terraces, one being the pool terrace. There is a 8 x 4 metre private pool. Both overlook our garden terraces and vineyard and have views of the mountains. The main house also has a study, double bedroom and bathroom. The reformed bodega has a bathroom, kitchen area and double or twin beds. Below the cortijo our land is planted with vines and many fruit trees - orange, lemon, fig, avocado, olive etc. We produce our own sweet moscatel wine. One of the terraces has been converted to a petanque pitch.

Who we are

  1. We are Bob and Janet, retired teachers. We have lived in Spain for 8 years, first in the mountain village of Competa and then have spent the last 3 years reforming the house, bodega and land of of our home near Torrox. When not busy with this we enjoy walking in the countryside and nearby mountains. We are experienced exchangers(8) - New Zealand and the UK. We are particularly interested in the Cardiff and Grasse areas.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in a peaceful rural area, but only 3 km from Torrox, a small traditional Spanish town and 10 minutes from the motorway and the coast at Torrox Costa. Other easily accessible resorts are Nerja and Torre del Mar. The resorts on this part of the Costa del Sol are quite low-key compared with west of Malaga. The Sierra Almijara and Tejeda mountains and white villages, including Frigiliana and Competa, are a short drive away. The airport at Malaga is a one hour drive from our home.
