Our home

Our house is a very spacious two storey home with large terraces on the first floor looking towards the sea. Both the living room and the dining room have doors to the garden and swimming pool. There is an attractive, kitchen with a separate laundry. Our lovely bedroom occupies the whole first floor. Sitting in bed you can see the sea! It has two terraces, one overlooks the sea, the other faces the famous Lanzarote volcanos. It has a large en-suite bathroom with a toilet, bath and a separate shower. On the ground floor a large plant filled room with central skylight leads to a painting studio with doors to a pretty patio, a shower room with toilet, two bedrooms and an office with broadband internet connection. The house is surrounded by a colourful, sub-tropical garden and is securely fenced. Our 8x4 metre, electrically heated (optional) swimming pool is surrounded by a sun bathing terrace, with sun beds, a sofa area, and an outdoor dining area with a gas BBQ. Our house looks bigger than it is and is very comfortable and cosy for just two people. Thanks to the marvelous climate we do not need central heating but do have portable heaters for winter evenings. We have air-conditioning in the bedroom but we rarely use it as there is usually a breeze through the patio doors. Arrangements can be made to use our lovely cleaning help for a few hours a week so that you can have a proper holiday! Zulu our gentle, golden retriever will look after you but only if you would like him to!

Who we are

  1. We moved to Lanzarote from London 12 weeks after coming here on holiday for the first time! That was 11 years ago and we still love it here. We have just retired from running our holiday villa rental business www.premier-holidays.com which has been taken over by our Cape Town based son. We are British, have traveled a lot on business and have family scattered around the globe. Yvonne lived in Canada for 18 years and her youngest son and wife live in Toronto. Ian's daughters live in Bulgaria. We have six grandchildren, three in Cape Town, two in Lanzarote and the eldest at university in Canada.
Living on a small, tropical island is a treat but every now and then we want some action, different cultures, places to go and people to meet! We are not really looking for remote, hill top getaways but rather some buzz, in places big or small.
We will provide a manual Toyota Rav 4 (2003) with the exchange. A car is essential for our home, the roads are good and the island is fascinating and beautiful.
OUR HOME WILL BE AVAILABLE IN NOVEMBER FOR AN NON-SIMULTANEOUS EXCHANGE OR FOR A STRAIGHT EXCHANGE IN SUMMER 2009 - IDEALLY WE WOULD LIKE 2 WEEKS IN TORONTO IN MID JUNE - JULY. WE ARE ALSO HOPING FOR TWO WEEKS IN NOVA SCOTIA DURING JULY. TREAT YOURSELVES TO SUN BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

All year warmth and sunshine, incredible scenery and lovely beaches make this small, volcanic island off the coast of Africa so special. See www.lanzarote.com or www.discoverlanzarote.com Although it is a popular tourist destination Lanzarote has maintained much of it's original charm and has none of the high-rise tourist culture of neighboring islands Tennerife or Gran Canaria. Nowhere is far from the sea and there are plenty of fascinating places to see, not least the unbelievable Fire Mountains.
Our house located on the edge of a village with mainly Spanish residents. There is a huge, well stocked supermarket nearby, a five minute drive to the nearest beach and ten minutes into Arrecife, the captial. The stunningly beautiful, old town of Teguise is a five minute drive, with many restaurants, quaint shops and a large weekly market. Fifteen minutes drive takes you to the extraordinary scenery of the wine growing region, with miles of lava stone walls protecting each vine. Everywhere are local restaurants, many specializing in locally caught fish and excellent international food is found in the main resorts and marinas as well as on hill tops overlooking magnificent views.
The island has a huge variety of sports on offer. Paragliding, mountain biking, walking, sailing, surfing, wind surfing, diving, horse riding, golf, karting, trekking, snorkeling, game fishing etc.
The atmosphere on the island is simple, casual and charming. Only 20 years ago the roads were camel treks!
