Our home

This apartment has been our holiday home for the past 13 years (We actually live in England). The flat is situated a short walk from the beach but has a large pool on site. It is close to shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It has three bedrooms, one with a queen bed and ensuite, one with a double and the third has two single beds. All bedrooms have wardrobes & cupboards. There are reverse cycle air conditioning units in the master bedroom and lounge/dining room.

Who we are

  1. We are in our mid-sixties. Andrew is a retired ship's Captain whilst Lynda is a retired Secretary/PA. We are both non-smokers and enjoy lots of travelling. Over the years we have used our apartment as a base and driven all around Spain and Portugal. We have already had two home exchanges in Australia and also Italy and France.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Santa Pola is a fishing port and holiday resort about 20 minutes drive south of Alicante. It boasts many cafes, bars and restaurants and has ample shopping with a number of supermarkets and lots of smaller shops. Whilst generally lively it can get very crowded in July and August. During the winter it can be fairly quiet though there is always a good choice of cafes and restaurants open in the town.

Within driving distance of Santa Pola is Valencia, the third largest city in Spain. Murcia is on the banks of the River Segura. Andalucia has some of the most beautiful cities in Spain - Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada (a day spent at the Alhambra is a must) and Malaga. Madrid, the Capital of Spain has the magnificent Royal Palace amongst many other interesting sights. Just down the steps from the Plaza Mayor is the Antigva Casa Sobrino de Botin restaurant, established in 1725 and reputed to be the oldest restaurant in the world (according to the Guinness Book of Records). Toledo has the Alcazar an enormous Arabian fortress. Ronda is perched high on a rock surrounded by clifs, divided by a 90 metre deep gorge. Barcelona has Las Ramblas - 2km long pedestrian street full of people day and night, imposing Cathedral and various buildings of Gaudi's architecture around the City.
