Our home

Our Home is peacefully located in the middle of an olive grove. It commands spectacular views over rolling and mountainous Andalucian countryside but despite its solitude is only a few minutes drive from Ronda, the largest and most stunning of Andalucia's famous 'Pueblos Blancas' (White Towns). Inside our charming, newly built 'casita' is fresh, clean and inviting. It is modern and well appointed with a blend of Spanish and English furnishings. Built as a four bedroomed dwelling we have converted one bedroom into a large laundry/store room and another into a second sitting/television room. The result is that it is a perfect, roomy space for two with the option for one or two guests. Our main sitting/dining room is large, the kitchen small but excellent and the two 'bathrooms' are, in fact shower rooms reflecting the need for water conservation in an area of low rainfall. Our swimming pool is located very conveniently to the side of the property.

Who we are

  1. We are Ian and Kathy Baillie. Married for 33 years we are in our mid 50's with one son who lives and works in London. After we both experienced some health problems we have said goodbye to the rat race, sold our large home in central England and after two wonderful six month adventures to the summer warmth of Australia have settled here in Andalucia. We adore everything about living here.. not least of which is the sunshine. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a super way to see another country as a resident - and allow another couple to see and experience ours. We can only consider a single storey property, preferably with a pool in a warm sunny climate.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Inland Andalucia is, quite simply, charming and unspolied. The countryside in all directions is varied, beautiful and largely uninhabited. Ronda itself, long a haunt and home of artists and writers (Earnest Hemmingway, Kingsley Amiss and Orson Wells to name but three)is the capital and largest of a multitude of delightful and unique 'White Towns' which which cling to the sides of hills and mountains throughout Andalucia. We love the friendliness and family values of the Spanish and because they eat out so much we benifit from literally hundreds of ventas, tapas bars and restaurants which offer wonderful food at unbeatable prices. In addition to the obvious delights of walking and cycling there is a tennis club very nearby. Golf hasn't arrived in Ronda but there are many excellent courses on the coast 50 minutes away.
We are ideally situated to explore Andalucia and beyond. Within 1.5 hours of here is historic Cadiz, Jerez, the home of The Spanish Riding School and Sherry, Granada and the Alhambra Palace, Gibralta, Malaga, Cordoba and Seville..all special and memorable destinations The new fast train will whisk you into the heart of Madrid in four hours and in the same time you can be in Morocco.
