Our home

Our home is a converted country house set in the beautiful Andalucian countryside. The house is on two stories and retains many original features. The views from all windows are stunning, and the wild-life and bird population is amazing. The cortijo has all modern conveniences, for your comfort and if you should want to visit in winter there are two log burners in the main lounges.
The area is stunningly beautiful and nearby is the Embalse de San Clemente, The Sagre Mountain and many wonderful Spanish villages, amongst them the beautiful mountain top village of Castril.
There is a local Trout Farm where you can fish for your supper, and many other activities, but best of all is the tranquility you will experience in this beautiful part of Andalucia.

Who we are

  1. My husband and I are retired and enjoy the good life that comes with retirement. We are still very active and love to visit different places, meet different people, but we also love our home. We travel back to England for July and August, and would drive through France, so this would be an ideal place for us to visit.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The area is quite isolated although there are several houses in the hamlet. Our neighbours are mostly Spanish, and are wonderful welcoming people. The valley we look over has a running river which has trout and we are within walking distance of the Embalse San Clemente, which is a very picturesque reservoir, where fishing is allowed. There is also a local trout farm, where you can fish for your supper. The Sagra Mountain, one of the highest in the area is clearly visible from the courtyard and there is a wonderful restaurant 1/2 way up, which is run by a retired bull-fighter. There is a local Bar/Restaurant 10 minutes away, where you can sample Wild Boar and other wonderful Spanish specialities. The village of Fatima is a few kilometres away which boast a very good restaurant, supermarket, baker, butcher and several bars. The Library in Fatima has internet access, which is free. The nearest town is Huescar, which is a typical Spanish market town, oozing character. Try the Thursday market to meet all the locals and enjoy the bars and free Tapas.
