Our home

Our house has a lot of character and is very much a part of Granada's historic Albaicin. The house was originally built about a century ago but recent remodelling projects have made it into a modern and unique family-friendly home for four, while preserving its traditional flavor. It has a cute patio at the front, a shady backyard with a dining area and also a roof terrace with fabulous views. The newest part of the house is the spacious lounge with a sofa bed, giant windows and steps leading to the backyard, where there is a big trampoline. The charming kitchen-dining room and the bathroom are also on this floor. Upstairs there is a master bedroom and a kids bedroom and a small office. One flight up from the master bedroom is a large roof terrace with great views of the surrounding countryside and the neighborhood and glimpses of the Alhambra. We have bikes for both kids and adults and plenty of play things. We also have two charming cats that are very pleasant company and require minimal care.

Who we are

  1. Our family consists of me, my husband, two boys (aged 12 and 14) and two cats. I am originally from the United States and my husband is from northern Spain, so we are bi-lingual, bi-cultural and, in fact, we both work as translators.

  2. We love Granada's unique blend of characteristics, its fascinating historical neighborhoods, the fabulous Alhambra and the lovely natural surroundings.

  3. We enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking and eating, traveling, gardening, reading, practicing yoga, and exploring music/art/film from all over the world.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our neighborhood, the Albaicin, is a truly special place, for a lot of reasons. This is the city's old Moorish quarter and it occupies the hill opposite the Alhambra. Living here is like living in a small town within the city of Granada. Its cobble-stoned streets are mostly pedestrianized. It has a fascinating history, interesting architecture and fabulous views of the city, the surrounding countryside and the Alhambra. A variety of sights not to be missed, as well as plenty of shops, restaurants and playgrounds, are just a 5-10 minute walk from the house. Nearby there are also some lovely trails for exploring the hills and valleys around Granada. And of course the city itself and the Alhambra are just a short walk away.
