Our home

Situated 14 kms from Denia on the Costa Blanca and overlooking the beautiful Girona Valley, Casa Mirande enjoys total privacy. The village of Benidoleig nestles below the almond terraces and is surrounded by orange groves and diverse countryside offering scenic walks. The village is colourful and active with small local shops and several bars/restaurants. During the first 2 weeks of August, Benidoleig celebrates the fiesta of Santa Barbara with religious ceremonies and processions. This is combined with fun, music and carnival and it is a great time to visit and enter into the spirit of the village.

The swimming pool overlooks the valley and has large terraces which provide both sun and shade. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with the master bedroom and ensuite located on the first floor allowing total privacy. The large cosy lounge has the original wooden beams and log fire which creates a comfortable home during the winter months. From April – September, the pool terrace becomes the main living area and this has cooking facilities and a BBQ.
Although the plot size is large most of the area has been left to natural mountainside and just the front area and poolside have been cultivated with colourful plants or pots. A communal tennis court is within walking distance but a car is essential to go down to the village for shopping

Who we are

  1. I am in my late 60's and retired to Spain 18 years ago. My interests are computing, photography, video editing, walking and travel. I also enjoy helping to support the care of abandoned dogs in this area by raising funds at a monthly car boot. I live alone and although the house is large it is geared to low occupancy. (Max 2 couples). I am very happy to take care of pets during an exchange but do not have any of my own. My previous home exchanges include, Loire Valley, Toronto, San Francisco, Zimbabwe and New Zealand. Each experience was different and stimulating and it has given me a host of video memories.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Benidoleig is approximately 100 kms from either Alicante or Valencia airports and the nearest motorway junction is at Ondara (6 kms). The village has a small supermarket, newsagents, DIY, pharmacy and postal service plus the usual array of Spanish bars and meeting places. The beaches of the Costa Blanca are easily accessed by car within distances of 8 to 20 kms and these attractive resorts, with sandy beaches, offer all water sports. Golf, bowling and horse riding are some of the other activities found locally. The Calaveras,(Skull), cave is the main attraction of the village. Twelve skulls were found in the caves of Benidoleig in 1768. It was determined that they were the skulls of Moors who had died during earlier excavation of the caves. Other remains found in the caves at Benidoleig have been dated back to the Bronze and Neolithic periods.
