Our home

This is a four bed house in a rural location surrounded by 400 orange trees that you can walk around. The house is in an elevated position with lovely views of the surrounding mountains and villages.

The house itself is basic but all works. The kitchen is fitted and there is an open fire in the lounge.

The outside area is flat and has a good size patio area with plenty of shade for the summer.

The swimming pool (10 x 5m) is a âdepositoâ type which means that it is also used to water the oranges and is regularly refilled. It is not heated but is great for swimming and cooling off in the summer months.

Who we are

We are a family of 5. Myself and my husband work for ourselves (I started off as an accountant, he as an engineer).We have three children 14, 11, and 9. We did our first house swap in Oz over Christmas 07. We found the experience really positive and would love to do more swaps in 2008 and beyond.
We also have a property overlooking the orange groves in Spain if that was of interest (ref 19119).

Where is it?

The house is situated in La Barraca de Aquas Vivas which is a village between Alzira and Tavernes de Valdigna in Valencia province.

It is 45mins from Valencia Airport and one and a half hours from Alicante airport.

The villa is 15mins walk from the village which has a baker, butcher, SPAR, chemist and 3 bars with associated restaurants which are all good value. Alzira (15mins) has a Carrefour and Tavernes (15mins) a Mercadona if you want a supermarket shop.

It is 20 mins drive to the beach at Tavernes which has a flat sandy beach and is generally uncrowded.

The ancient town of Xativa is a 25 minute drive, and it is only 45 mins to the centre of Valencia itself.
