Our home

Located 150 meters from the beach of Marina Playa and Marina del Este in La Herradura, our three bedroom/two bath townhouse has a stunning view of the Med as well as the Sierra Nevada mountains from large terraces on two levels. To take advantage of the breathtaking view the main living area was built on the second floor and designed as an open plan which includes the sitting room, kitchen, dining area as well as a terrace for al fresco dining and sunning. Seven people can easily be accommodated in the three bedrooms and two baths located on the lower floor: double master bedroom with en suite bath; double guest bedroom and large kids bed/play room with two double beds and one single. Both the master bedroom and guest bedroom open onto a large garden terrace which overlooks the marina and the Med below. The large sliding window doors face southeast so we enjoy sunshine all day inside. We have marble floors and private parking. Our townhouse has a total living area of 150 square meters. We are in the process of converting our double garage into a game room/man cave. It already has a Ping-Pong table and is stuffed full with snorkeling gear, wet suits, wind surfer as well as two kayaks for having fun at the beach.

Who we are

  1. Having recently relocated from Las Vegas to Spain in order to provide our two boys (ages 13 and 6) a beautiful life near the sea and in the sun, my wife and I are both semi-retired now. We are non-smokers. Originally from Latvia and a casino croupier by profession, Baiba is in her early forties. She speaks fluent English, Turkish, Latvian and Russian. From the States and in my 50’s, I was a professional musician before retiring so I speak English and can get by in French. However, it is our oldest boy Miles who is having the most success with learning Spanish right now :-) Having lived on a sailboat for a number of years earlier in our lives my wife and I are quite adaptable and enjoy a variety of leisure time activities. We enjoyed a number of very successful swaps these past couple of years - Paris, Venice, Riviera, Loire Valley, Swiss, Italian & French Alps, Pyrenees, Cinque Terre & Austria. We are free now to travel primarily during our children’s school holidays.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Located in the exclusive Punta de la Mona area of La Herradura, the townhouse is situated 150 meters from both the beach of Marina Playa, considered one of the finest scuba/snorkeling/swimming areas along the southern coast of Spain as well as Marina del Este, a charming yacht basin which is lined with numerous restaurants, shops and art galleries. The village of La Herradura is a short five minute drive away. Located on the actual bay of La Herradura, which gives the village its name (literally meaning “The Horseshoe”) the town itself sits upon its own mile long crescent stretch of beach bracketed by dramatic rocky promontories on both ends. Retaining much of its traditional charm and character La Herradura is considered one of the prettiest towns along the Mediterranean coast of Spain. A variety of restaurants, lively beach bars, Spanish language schools, hiking trails, horseback riding, and centers for diving, paragliding, windsurfing and sailing are located within the village.

Located on the Costa Tropical of Spain which is famous for its 320 days of sunshine per year La Herradura is also a great base from which to explore Andalucia. Less than a day's drive away are the white-washed villages of the Alpujarra mountains, including Panpanera and the spa at Lanjaron, the magnificent Alhambra palace and the Picasso museum in Malaga. Excellent hiking, camping, and skiing can be found not far away in the Sierra Nevada mountains national park. Closer by, the Nerja caves, the Moorish castle atop Salobreña, exotic bird park, or the weekly flea markets in Nerja and Almuñecar can be visited as well.
