Our home

Our home? Part of a family condomimium (known as "urbanización HOYO UNO" - you may locate it via Google Earth or alike with these coordinates: 38°22'48.20"N & 0°25'33.18"O). It is a 3-story, comfortable. middle-class apartment, with its own garage. Built ten years ago. We do not pretend to have an awesome "villa" facing the sea, but we feel proud of our cozy condo. Daylight inundates all rooms and living areas. Sunlight is "guaranteed". The sea is within walking distance. Our property limits with the golf course (Hole No. 1). Dining and living room are spacious and bright. Small garden allows evening dining with cool breeze from the sea. Warmly decorated in predominant teka and pine-made furniture. No carpeting, just plain, cool marble. Easy access for children to come in and out to the common garden and pool areas. Simple but warm. Ready to be enjoyed by a family willing to make the best out of the Mediterranean sun and sea.

Who we are

  1. My wife and I were born in Valencia. I work in Alicante for the European Union agency for Intellectual Property (EUIPO). My wife is a law professor with a tenure in Valencia Law School. Frequent travelers. Our children (20 and 18 years old) have wide exposure to foreign visitors and currently in college. Always anxious to learn from others. In the summer of 2010, we exchanged our home for the first time with a Manhattan family and the experience was mutually satisfactory. In 2012, we exchanged home with a Brussels-based family of Spanish and Dutch origins. In 2018, we exchanged with a lovely French family. We treat our exchanged home as our own home.

Where is it?

Our residential area was developed only ten years ago. Located in the northern part of Alicante (Spain's Eastern coast). Public transportation (tramway) is within walking distance. Transportation to the city, but also to the beach areas further north of the city. Most populated by locals, there are foreign residents.English is seldom often spoken in the area, due to the existence of a EU agency and a European school. Shopping areas are at reach from our condominium. The main beach is accessible on foot, by car and by bike. Downtown is just a 20-min. trip by tram. Open-minded neighbors, used to foreign residents and visitors. Children of different background, able to speak English, French, German and of course Spanish. Alicante is a mid-size provincial town, which has built a reputation of being a tourist resort area for foreign visitors.
