Our home

A compact 19th century cottage in the heart of one of South Africa's most delightful villages. Just off campus, this lock-up and go unit is part of a security complex and is within walking distance of the campus as well as many shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and historical sights. The semi-detached house is ideal for a couple, though it can sleep four by using the sleeper couch in the lounge. The study in the loft is equipped with a highspeed internet connection, printer and air conditioning. The small garden is largely self-contained, with an automatic sprinkler system and cosy entertainment area.

Who we are

  1. Both of us are former employees of the University of Stellenbosch who have always loved to travel. We would now like to use our retirement for a more extended stay in Europe, specifically in France. We have two married children who live in and near Stellenbosch. If possible we would love a similtaneous home exchange in a city or town in France. Our dates are negotiable but we would like to stay for at least 10-12 months.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Known worldwide for its quality wines and the spectacular beauty of the surroundings Stellenbosch is home to one of the most prestigious old Wine Regions in the world. Founded in 1679, Stellenbosch is the oldest town in South Africa. Walking through the streets of Stellenbosch, one can almost feel the history, with many historic buildings dating back to the early 1700's.
The town lies on the banks of the First River and is surrounded by magnificent moutains and valleys, for hikers, picknickers and mountain bikers. It is only 20 minutes drive to the nearest beaches (Strand and Gordon's Bay) and 45 minutes to the glorious city of Cape Town. A car is required for most out of town exploration or travel.

The Stellenbosch University is internationally known, drawing about 25 000 students every year. There are a number of sports clubs in the region, and golfers have a choice of 3 top class golf courses in Town with a further 8 within 25 minutes drive.
