Our home

A modern architect designed seafront home in the tiny holiday village of Suiderstrand in the Agulhas nature reserve, the most Southern point of Africa. Very safe area. 3 hours from the beautiful Cape Town. Get away from it all, while enjoying all the luxury you may need. Large spacious rooms, so great for a family, yet designed in such a way that a couple will feel equally at home. Enjoy the sun set from the jacuzzi on the balcony. Sun bathe or enjoy the view on the wrap around wooden decks, or from the two upstairs verandas. Well equipped kitchen and scullery. Games, a wide selection of DVDs and books provided. Underfloor heating and fireplaces in winter. Lovely touches everywhere .Very special atmosphere. Check the pictures

Who we are

  1. My wife Alinda and I (Riegert) are in our early fifties. We have two children, Retha 19 and Salmon 21. We own and manage a training company, which is very fulfilling. We are at a stage where we want to start to slow down , and regularly break away to Suiderstrand for a weekend or a short holiday. The place restores body and soul. We have traveled abroad a few times, and enjoy discovering new places.

Your neighbourhood

Suiderstrand is a quiet village on an unspoilt coastline: if you visit outside holiday periods you will have the beaches virtually for yourself. Take long walks. Visit the shipwreck close by. Cycle along the back roads up the mountain and enjoy endless views over the sea and veld. Explore the quiet bay in the front of the house with a cano. The small unpretencious seaside villages of Agulhas and Struisbaai, 5 and 10 mins away, offer shopping facilities, gift shops, a few galleries displaying local art, a beauty salon or two and some lovely restaurants. Choose between e.g. a house restaurant with African Portuguese food, fish on the harbour, or a top end 3 course meal paired with local wines in the Agulhas Lodge. Struisbaai has a 14 km stretch of pure white beach- longest in the Southern hemisphere. Also offers horseriding on the beach, angling trips and tennis courts. If you want to explore a bit further: visit a selection of boutique wine farms 30 mins to an hour away. For a day trip, you may want to do cage shark diving at Hermanus, or visit Koppie Alleen in the De Hoop Nature reserve for what is claimed to be one of the best land based whale spotting spots in the world.(Whale season July - Oct).
