Our home

A large rambling home full of interesting stuff and opening out onto a lush African garden of over 2000 square meters. With parking for four cars (over and above ours), a swimming pool, vegetable garden and a kids play ground, it's a peaceful and beautiful, yet situated on a main east-wets route (observatory avenue - the M 18).

Who we are

  1. I am a professional musician, director, producer and label manager. I play steelpans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8mWcvQkv7c) and own the studio (Southern Cross Studios) on the same property. My wife, Bridget, is a doctor (specialist in rheumatology) at the world famous Baragwanath hospital in Soweto. We're going to live in Paris from April 2010 til Jan 2011 - Bridget doing medical research at St Antoine hospital and I'll be free-lancing on the Paris scene.

Your neighbourhood

Observatory is one of the old world charming suburbs of Joburg. It's spacious with huge pavements (sidewalks), many trees and with properties all over 2000 square meters, there's ample space surrounding the houses to feel connected to the birds and plant life rather than the city bussle. Yet bordering on the inner city - 5 minutes from the stadiums, ten minutes from Newtown/Rosebank and 15 minutes from the airport/Sandton, it makes a central and convenient base to explore the Joburg buzz. It's safe and sought after - a home to the likes of Zenzi Mandela, politicans, artists and famous musicians like Jonas Gwangwa and Paul Hanmer.
