Who we are

  1. We are a retired couple in our early 60's, Douggie & Desire. Douggie was an engineer, I was a teacher, the past 15 years we ran our own business. Our son has recently emigrated to Sydney and we would like to have the opportunity to spend more time with them and our little granddaughter.

We would like to hear from anybody interested to come and explore our beautiful Cape Peninsula.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is in a quiet suburb of Somerset West, nestling under the Helderberg. We are in the heart of the historical Stellenbosch wine route, with vineyards and mountains on our doorstep. Wonderful beaches, our own nature reserve and very scenic coastal drives along the mountains are only minutes away from us.

Cape Town is 45 km away and offers the vibrant waterfront tourist attraction, cable car trips up Table Mountain, visits to nature reserves and scenic drives around the Cape Peninsula.

Numerous wine farms in the area offer excellent dining and wine tasting. A big shopping mall is 5 km away for all the shopping you might need.
Stellenbosch, a historic student town with quaint shops, restaurants and coffee shops is only 20 km away.

Our area offers 4 golf courses with stunning views. For the active there is a lot of hiking to do in the area.
