Our home

Our home is a beautiful, light and spacious house which we have configured for our retirement. Open plan kitchen, lounge (with Jetmaster gas fire) for the winter months and dining room. Plus Study, main bedroom with ensuite and spare bedroom/TV room, 2nd bathroom. All rooms, except bathrooms, have doors to outside so the flow from house to garden is well designed. En suite bathroom has spacious walk-in shower and spa bath. The main bedroom has queen size bed and in the TV room there is a sleeper couch that can accommodate 1 person comfortably. The garden is mostly indigenous plants and completely private. The water feature and plunge pool provide a relaxing ambiance. We entertain frequently both indoors and in the garden. As we are both keen cooks our kitchen is quite well equipped. Floor to ceiling books in Peter's study will mean you will always find something to read! The laundry facilities are in the garage. The house is very secure and full alarm monitored. We have a garage(electronic door) and plenty of secure off street parking space.

Our maid will be available for 1 day a week.

We have two affectionate very well behaved cats, GRIMBO and SPICE, who like to be fed regularly. There are cat flaps so goes in and out quite independently which means no cleaning up or cat trays!

Who we are

  1. We are: Peter, retired (Dec 2010) professor, and Jennie, retired librarian/bookseller. We have both travelled extensively in our lives but not always together so our retirement plans are to be able to travel together at any time of year.
    We have had some very successful exchanges and the people who have stayed in our house have been highly appreciative. We have compiled an comprehensive file on how everything works in the house but, in case of emergency we have super neighbours who are very helpful and supportive to our guests.
    Our daughter and family have recently relocated to Los Gatos in California so we are want tp spend the school summer holidays - plus other times near them.

Our home is situated in a quiet road in Kenilworth, an upmarket southern suburb of Cape Town. The house is semi detached and we are fortunate to have very nice friendly neighbors.
There are local shops and several restaurants very close (walking distance) and larger shopping centres 10 minutes drive.
Easy reach of Kirstenbosch, beaches, Table Mountain, Cape Town Waterfront, Winelands etc.
Cape Town International airport is approximately 20 minutes drive.
