Who we are

  1. About us

Our names are Maureen and Doug and we are originally from the North of England but South Africa has been our home for many years. We have ta family of four who fled the nest long ago and have their own families. Doug was a director of a steel construction company and is now retired. Maureen was the traditional wife and mother who stayed at home to look after the rest of us. We enjoy ballroom dancing and walking on the beach.

Where we are

Our home is situated in the Fish Hoek valley between two ranges of mountains, 25 km South of the city of Cape Town, and 2 km from the Indian Ocean where there are several fishing villages with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. One of the villages is Simonstown, which was once home to the Royal Navy, and is a 15 minute's drive. About 10 km to the West is the Atlantic Ocean and to the South is mostly national park down to Cape Point. Within 45 minute' drive to the East, there are dozens of wine farms, most of which have restaurants and wine tasting. Cape Town International airport is 45 km from Fish Hoek.
