Our home

The apartment is part of our main house and is situated downstairs, looking on to a shady garden area. It has its own private entrance and parking is no problem.

The main area consists of seating for TV viewing or reading, has a dining space as well as a kingsize bed (that can be converted into two single beds). In the interleading area is a kitchenette as well as a set of double bunks and walk-in wardrobe.

There is no washing machine or drier but our guests would be welcome to come upstairs to make use of our machines. Our apartment is very popular with holiday makers.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Herbert and I have lived in Brenton on Sea for 13 years now and still consider it our best move. Herbert is retired after a career in the motor industry and I am still active as an interior fabric agent.

Our two sons live in London and we try to visit different European destinations once a year. Our exchange would need to be non-simultaneous because we are sure Europeans would like to visit South Africa in our beautiful Spring and Summer times (September to April) and we again would like to visit Europe when the weather warms up (May to June, before the European holidays begin).

The apartment is not available from 5 December to 16 January each year because of family visits and bookings by local holiday makers.

We live in the most beautiful area - Knysna is world-renowned for its natural beauty and we appreciate this beauty every day. The house is situated opposite the Brenton Blue Butterfly reserve (endangered butterfly that only occurs in this area) and is quiet from traffic because we live in a cul de sac. Nature abounds with visits by bush buck, tortoises and many bird species.

Down the road is the Fisherman's Walk - a path that meanders along the cliff tops with views of the sea and beaches. Brenton Beach is 1,5km down the road and again, an amazing beach with interesting rock formations and perfect for beach walks. We have no shops or petrol stations - grocery shopping can be done in the town of Knysna, where we have all the popular supermarkets. However, we do have a small shop with the basics and a lovely restaurant at the hotel down at the beach - wonderful for sundowners and spectacular sunsets.

Walking, swimming, golfing (3 excellent golf courses in Knysna), cycling - Knysna is renowned for outdoor activities and hosts the annual Knysna Oyster Festival featuring challenging cycle races and forest marathons. A wonderful place to just relax and chill ....
