Our home

Our home is a charming, cosy, warm, inviting and comfortable house. It has big windows that let the light and warmth of the sun fill our house. In the living-room we have a big, open fireplace. A spacious kitchen with adjoining dining room. We have three bedrooms, one with one single bed and a baby-bed, one with a single bed, and one with a double bed. The bathroom was renovated in 2008. In the southern part of our garden lies the Guest house, fully equipped with two bedrooms, kitchen, living-room and bathroom. This gives two families the opportunity to travel together. We have a cat, a rabbit and 7 chickens that gives fresh eggs every day!

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple, in our mid thirties. We have two children, 8 and 1,5 years old. Husband works as an advisor at the college of arts. wife is a teacher. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We have been in Cape Town several times during the last 10 years. We love Cape Town and all it has to offer. We would like our children to get to know South Africa, and love this beautiful country as we do. we are also interested in other destinations.

A short walk from the house is a beautiful lake with evening sun. 15 minutes drive is Norway`s oldest town, Tønsberg, mentioned already in the Saga of Harald Hårfagre. You can visit the ruins of the 13th century fortress Castrum Tunsbergis on the Mount Slottsfjellet and climb to the Slottsfjell tower, built in 1888. Vestfold Fylkesmuseum (County Folk Museum) is also worth a visit. Tønsberg also has shopping streets, nice restaurants. This area has much to offer both summer and winter. We have local international airport 30 min from the house ( and, train 15 min drive, and boats leaving for Denmark (12 H) and Sweden (2,5 H)30 min drive.
