Our house is located by the fjord ("Drammensfjorden") some 19 km south of Drammen/55 km from Oslo. The house was built in 1965, but was refurbished in 2000-2006.
The house is at typical Norweigian wooden house and has 6 bedroom (2 in basement/4 on mainfloor).
Bedrooms are singleones except from masterbedroom.
However, additional beds can be placed in the downstairs bedrooms. There are two livingrooms in our house. The one downstairs has a state-of-the-art PC with broadband connection.
Our family is quite large with 4 children (age 13, 11, 7 and 6).Housemother works for the county (she is in charge of cultural affairs) and housefather works for StatoilHydro (Norway's largest oilcompany). We are all quite used to travel and we have been to see most of Europe and Northe America. We have a Labrador dog ("Emma"). She will not be going on holiday, and will stay by friends of ours when we are away.
The town Svelvik is a small place, next to the fjord. In the centre of town there are shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also a bank/postoffice. However, one should concider going to Drammen (Norway's 6'th langest town) to go shopping for special items. What to do in Svelvik? The fjord with it's strong current/strait is the second strongest in Norway. Fishing here is quite good. One could go to Oslo to visit museums/art galleries or perhaps go by car to see places in southern Norway.
